今天新买了两本碟
http://shuizichenhe.blogbus.com/logs/4880747.html
一本是THE FLAMING LIPS1984-1990的精选
一本是BRITISH SEA POWER的《OPEN SEASON》
THE FLAMING LIPS的那本我找了很久了,在羊禾那有
所以花了50买下来了
对于好东西我是绝对不会手软的,尽管都快没钱吃饭了
DREAM POP.....
The flaming lips-<A Collection of Songs Representing an Enthusiasm for Recording...By Amateurs>
With the exception of the superb In a Priest Driven Ambulance, the Flaming Lips early albums for the Restless label are at best hit-or-miss affairs; A Collection of Songs Representing an Enthusiasm for Recording...by Amateurs sifts through the debris to rescue the most enduring material from those LPs, revealing a band still struggling to discover its voice but on occasion capable of flickers of startling brilliance. The best tracks here ― "Unconsciously Screamin," "Jesus Shootin Heroin," and "One Million, Billionth of a Millisecond on a Sunday Morning" ― rival anything in the groups catalog, while even the weaker selections still suggest a truly original musical vision in embryo. Complete with a batch of unreleased covers making the set as valuable to longtime fans as more recent converts, A Collection of Songs proves once and for all that the Lips didnt simply become a great band overnight ― they always had it in them, with the best still yet to come.
British sea power-<Open season>
British Sea Powers 2003 debut album was a fascinating post-punk-inspired set that sparked artful originality and thought-provoking emotion. Their follow-up, Open Season, does the same but its much more of a streamlined affair. Open Season is virtually a 45-minute waltz of lilting string arrangements and dreamy vocals while acoustic and electric guitars chase the albums quiet golden tones. A theme of the great outdoors makes it a relaxed occasion from start to finish; the 11 songs featured arent a schoolbook interpretation on lifes hardships as much as they are a reflection on the confusion (and love) of nature. Frontman Yan and his brother Hamilton remain charming eccentrics, but this time theyre poetic with their stoic, overcast outlook on modern life. The question Yan seems to ask throughout Open Season is whether or not life is really crap. Commencing with the copper-toned "It Ended on an Oily Stage," Yan softly croons, "We found God in a parking lot." He ponders whether the experience was actually real, and if it has ever happened to anyone. "How Will I Ever Find My Way Home?," an emotional seesaw of crunchy guitars and sheeting percussion, is oddly comfortable with the albums continuous mental inquisitions. The bird echoes of "Please Stand Up" match the ice-capped perils of "Oh Larsen B," maintaining the albums rich affections. Some might think that the five Cumbrian intellectuals have made their shining pop moment with this record despite British Sea Power making it quite obvious on The Decline of... that theyre anything but a pop band. British Sea Powers smart approach on Open Season showcases a band in progress. This album feels alive and breathes honesty. Such an impression once again makes way for British Sea Power to stand apart from their counterparts (Doves, Coldplay, South).
